Flight training at Gimli Airport
is unique in that there are low traffic volumes during critical
learning periods. However, the airport still requires communications
on a mandatory frequency, allowing students to develop competency
in radio comunications. These skills are very important as they
will be required throughout their careers.
Real life bush flying is only minutes away. This may be the
most important capability that students will develop. As much
of their career will be spent flying over and into forested
areas, familiarity with this kind of terrain is critical.
Our Chief Flight Instructor has many years of experience meeting
the training needs of students. In addition, he has the backing
of veteran former Transport Canada check pilots. This enables
Prairie Helicopters to develop flight skills that are second
to none.
Our selection of training aircraft is the same as the one we
use for commercial charter services. Not only is the Bell 206B
Jet Ranger the safest helicopter in the industry, it is also
the aircraft that 90% of new commercial pilots will be hired
to operate wherever they end up.
Accommodations are readily available in Gimli for out of town
students. Gimli is small enough to be friendly, and large enough
to provide for all the personal needs of the student.
